Overview

What this service covers

Design for print is different from design for screens. Colour, paper, folds, bleed and finishing all change how a layout looks once it is produced.

Our design team works with production in mind from the first draft, whether we are creating a layout from your brand guidelines or preparing your own designer’s files for press.

01 / 08Layouts for print items
  • Cards, letterheads, flyers, menus

Suitable for

When businesses use it

  1. No designer in-house

We design the item from your logo and brand guidelines.

  2. Files not print-ready

We fix bleed, resolution, colour mode and fonts before production.

  3. Rolling out a brand

We adapt one approved look across stationery, print and packaging.

  4. Packaging and special finishes

We place artwork on dielines and set up foil, spot UV and embossing layers.

How it works

Four clear steps

  1. Brief the design

Share the item, content, brand files and what the piece should achieve.

  2. First layout

We prepare a layout with the format and material in mind.

  3. Refine and approve

Revisions, then the print-ready file for your approval.

  4. Hand over to production

Approved files go straight into production, or are delivered to you.

Inside the file

One file, five layers

A print-ready file is more than the design. Every finish and the cutting die sit on their own layer, lined up to the millimetre.

Layer

One file, five layers. We set up each finish on its own layer so the printer, the foil block and the cutting die line up with your artwork.

Pricing

What shapes the price

Every quotation comes down to the same four things.

  1. 01ScopeA single flyer is quicker than a 40-page catalogue or a full stationery set.
  2. 02Starting pointAdapting your brand guidelines costs less than building a new layout from scratch.
  3. 03Rounds of changesThe number of revision rounds is agreed up front in the quotation.
  4. 04Technical setupDielines, finishing layers and bilingual layouts add careful prepress time.

Before you order

Notes, files and finishes

Short references to read before you order: what to plan for, how to prepare your artwork.

01Production notes 5
  • Screen colours (RGB) change when printed (CMYK); we check and adjust before printing.
  • Rich blacks and fine lines need care on some papers and finishes.
  • Folds, binding and die-cuts affect where text and images can safely sit.
  • Images and fonts need to be licensed for print use; we flag anything we cannot confirm.
  • Arabic needs fonts with full Arabic support and a right-to-left layout; we set bilingual pieces so each language reads correctly.

01

Bleed and safe area

Extend any colour or image that touches the edge 3 mm past the trim line, so no white sliver shows after cutting. Keep text and logos at least 4 mm inside the trim; the blade can drift by a millimetre.

02

Image resolution

Photos need 300 ppi at the size they will print. Images taken from websites or messages are usually 72 ppi and turn soft or blocky on paper, even when they look sharp on screen.

03

Colour mode

Supply files in CMYK, not RGB. Screens can show brighter greens, blues and oranges than ink can print, so convert early and judge the colours before you approve.

04

Rich black for large areas

Big black backgrounds print deeper as rich black (C40 M30 Y30 K100). Keep body text and fine lines in 100% black only, or the colours can show at the edges.

05

Fonts

Embed every font in the PDF or convert text to outlines. A missing font is replaced by another one, and line breaks, spacing and Arabic shaping can change.

06

Logos and line art

Send logos as vector files: AI, EPS, SVG or PDF. Vectors stay sharp at any size; a logo copied from a website or a screenshot cannot be enlarged cleanly.

07

Smallest sizes

Keep text at 6 pt or larger, and 7 pt for reversed or thin fonts. Lines thinner than 0.25 pt can break up or disappear in print.

08

Finishes on their own layer

Foil, spot UV and embossing are made from separate artwork. Put each finish on its own layer or spot colour, named clearly, in exact position over the print.

09

Folds and panels

Folded pieces are not divided equally. On a tri-fold, the panel that folds inside is 2–3 mm narrower; we send the right template before you design.

10

QR codes and barcodes

Print codes at least 20 mm wide, dark on light, with a clear margin all round. Scan the final proof with more than one phone before you approve it.

11

Proofreading

We print what you approve. Check names, phone numbers, emails, prices and dates on the final proof, ideally with someone who did not write them.

12

Exporting the PDF

Export as PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4, single pages in reading order, with crop marks and bleed included. One file per item keeps everything easy to check.

13

What to send for this job

  • Logo in vector format
  • Brand guidelines, colours and fonts if available
  • Final text content
  • High-resolution images you have the rights to use
  • Any reference examples of the style you like

FAQ

Creative Design Services: common questions

Can you use my existing designer’s files?

Yes. We check them for print and fix technical issues such as bleed, resolution and colour mode, and tell you if anything needs your designer’s input.

Do you only design items you also print?

Design is usually part of a print project, but print-ready artwork can also be supplied for you to use elsewhere. Mention it in your quote request.

How many revisions are included?

The number of revision rounds is agreed in the quotation, based on the size of the project.

Can you design in Arabic and English?

Yes. We set bilingual layouts so each language reads in its own direction, with Arabic fonts that suit your brand, on one side, front and back, or as separate editions.

Do I get the files at the end?

You receive the approved print-ready PDF. Whether the editable source files are handed over as well is agreed in the quotation.

How long does the design take?

It depends on the item and how many rounds of revisions it needs. We agree the design time in the quotation, together with the print date.

What files do you need from me?

Your logo as a vector file, brand colours and fonts if you have them, the final text, and any images you want to use.

Will I see the design printed before the run?

You approve the final PDF on screen; for colour-critical or finished pieces we can quote a printed proof on the chosen paper.

Can you print what you design?

Yes. Most design work goes straight into production with us, so the files are set up for the exact press, paper and finish.
